If your boyfriend filled for bankrupcy..how long does it take to get off your credit & how badley is it ruins?

My boyfriend filled for bankrupcy about a year ago right before i meet him...but now we are talking about marraige and iam scared becuause my credit is almost perfect and iam afried all those years off hard work to earn that score will be for nothing if i marry him. But, i dont want to not marry him for that..what is the best solution and how bad will it effects me.
